Learn how our licensing works and how to manage your team's licenses.
Q: What kind of licensing model does Kinship use?
Answer: Kinship uses a named licensing model, meaning that each license is assigned to a specific email address representing one team member. Kinship does not offer any pooled or concurrent licenses.
Q: Is there any limit to the number of computers that a license can be used on?
Answer: No, there is no limit to the number of computers or devices that a single license can be used on. A team member can log into their Kinship account on as many computers or devices as they need to.
Q: How do I assign licenses to team members?
Answer: You don’t have to! When you invite someone to join your team, they will automatically have a license assigned as soon as they create their account.
Q: What’s the difference between active and inactive team members?
Answer: Kinship marks team members as either active or inactive based on their…drumroll…activity! An active team member is one who has interacted with Kinship in some way during the last 30 days – created their user account, used the add-in to search for content or sync model activity, or accessed the Kinship web app. An inactive team member is simply the opposite – a team member who hasn’t done any of those things in the last 30 days.
For licensing purposes, inactive team members are not considered to be using a license. In effect, their license automatically becomes available for other team members to use.
Q: Can I reassign a license from one user to another?
Answer: Yes, you can free up a license by deactivating any of your active team members. Then you can use that license to invite a new team member, reactivate another deactivated team member, or have an inactive team member start using Kinship again.
Q: How does Flexible Licensing work on the Enterprise plan?
Answer: Our Enterprise plan includes a benefit called Flexible Licensing. This allows you to exceed your paid license count by up to 20% at no extra charge, in order to allow for team growth or occasional spikes in usage during your subscription period. For example, if you purchase 100 Enterprise licenses, you can have up to 120 active team members on your account at no extra charge.
Q: Where can I see how many team members I currently have?
Answer: You can see how many users you have by going to the Team area in the Kinship web app and then clicking on “See all >” in the Browse Team Members section. On the Team Members page, you can see the total number of users underneath the Team Members head and next to the Filter button. You can use the Filter button to show only Active or Inactive team members.
Q: Who should I contact for questions or changes to my current subscription?
Answer: Please contact support@kinship.io for any questions or changes related to your current subscription.
