Setting Your User Icon

Modified on Wed, 18 Oct, 2023 at 11:30 AM

Your user icon is displayed in the top right of all pages. Clicking on it gives you access to the user icon menu items. It is also used as a label in pages on the website to refer to your activity, for example when showing who uploaded a family or did a SwC on a model.

Setting your user icon

The user icon is the small coloured box with two letters in it that appears on the top right of all pages on the website. It is automatically created from the initials of your first and last name along with a randomly chosen colour when you register with Kinship.

  • You can change the letters in the Initials text box
    • No more than two letters are allowed.
    • Upper and lower case letters and numbers are allowed.
    • If an invalid value is entered it will be set back to the default value.

  • You can select a background colour from the list of twenty that are available from the drop down listbox.

Note: if your organization has SSO enabled the Initials box will be greyed out and read-only. It will be automatically set from your Active Directory.

Once you have made your changes click Cancel or the cross in the top right to exit without saving changes or Save to save changes and exit.
