You can specify the team default as to whether Kinship should extract the thumbnail images from families and model starting views.

When first importing a model into its system, Kinship will use the Revit API to extract the thumbnail images for the families and the model. Kinship then uses these images when displaying search results making the search process more intuitive. 

However it is possible that extracting these images may cause Revit to crash. If this is happening for your team your may want to disable this option.

The individual user can also control this setting by editing their profile.
