How to Upload Content

Adding content to your library will make it available to all users on your team. Start by opening the Add-Ins tab in the Revit ribbon, and on the Kinship panel, select one of the options under Add to Library.

Adding a Folder to Your Library

Adding a folder is a quick and easy way to setup your Kinship library and start sharing it with your team. Adding a folder with Kinship will add all the content within the folder and its subfolders.

If some of the content has been previously added to the library and there have been no changes, the content will not be added again.

Type catalog files (.txt) found in this folder or its subfolders will also be processed

  1. In Revit, go to the Add-Ins tab and click the “Add to Library” button in the Kinship panel.
  2. Select “Folder” to add content found in one or more folders, including any sub-folders.
  3. Once you’ve chosen your folder(s), click “Select folder” button to confirm your selection.
  4. Kinship will display a dialog with the total number of families found. Families will then be added to your library. You can cancel this at any time, or set it to add the content to the library when the computer is idle.

Adding Individual Files to Your Library

You can add a number of individual files, in the same folder, to your Kinship library. If one or more of these files has been previously added to the library and there have been no changes, the content is not added again.

Type catalog files (.txt) found in this folder or its subfolders will also be processed.

  1. In Revit, go to the Add-Ins tab and click the “Add to Library” button in the Kinship panel.
  2. Select “Files” to add one or more family files.
  3. Select one or more files by holding down the Control key.
  4. Once you’ve selected the desired files, click the “Open” button to confirm your selection.
  5. Kinship will display a dialog with the total number of families found and a confirmation button before adding the families to your library. Press “OK” to continue.
