Overview - Content Management

The main container for the standard content used by your team is the Library.

Collections are alternative, smaller containers intended for families that suit a specific use case, such as particular client, sector, region or sub-discipline. Collections are also suitable for publishing content or sharing it with external project partners.

You can choose what content is stored in your library and in collections. Using the Revit add-in, you can upload content from the current model, family editor, or point to specific files or a folder on your system.

Additionally, when you track your models with Kinship, their content is automatically extracted, uploaded, and kept up to date over time as you work on your model.

Whilst those families are not yet part of your library or any collection, they can be searched and used across projects. At any point, you can add a family from such tracked model to library or a collection.

You can do this in the web browser by selecting families on the model page, or, by uploading from the model when it is open in Revit.

Whilst the majority of your content will come from your team’s uploads and models tracked in Kinship, some may come from other project partners and external consultants who also use Kinship.

They will be able to share their collection with you, and it will be added to your account, ready to use, no Revit involved.
