Kinship allows you to view the origins of all content within your model. This information is available in Projects and Models families listings, as well as on individual model family pages.
The source of each piece of content in your model will be reported as one of the following values:
Library – Content loaded from your team’s library.
Team Collection – Content loaded from a team collection.
User Collection – Content loaded from a user’s personal collection.
Initial Sync – Content that was already in the model when it was first tracked with Kinship.
- Note: System families loaded before the model was added to Kinship will appear as “Initial Sync” even if they were originally loaded from the library or a collection. System families loaded after tracking begins will report their true source.
Tracked Model – Content loaded from another model tracked in Kinship.
Not Tracked – Content loaded from a model not tracked in Kinship.
Web Download – Content downloaded from the internet and located in the user’s Downloads folder.
Local Files – Content loaded from an .rfa file on a local drive.
Network Folder – Content loaded from an .rfa file on a shared network location.
3rd-Party Add-In – Content loaded with a third-party add-in other than Kinship.
OOTB – Revit Out-Of-The-Box content.
Template – Content that originates from the project template (.rte).
Component Families: If a component family was loaded into the template from Kinship, it will display its original source (such as “Library” or “Team Collection”), not “Template.”
- System Families:
- System families included in the default Revit OOTB templates will typically report as “OOTB.”
- If a custom system family was added to the template before the model was tracked by Kinship, it will show as “Initial Sync.”
- System families added to the template after tracking begins will report their actual source.
User Created– Content is reported as “User Created” when it is authored within the current model and does not exist as a saved .rfa file outside the model.
System Families: Any system family (walls, floors, roofs, etc.) that a user creates or duplicates and modifies within the model.
Component Families: Component families created in the Family Editor and loaded directly into the project without first being saved to an external .rfa file.
Note: If an item is loaded from an existing .rfa file, it will not be marked as “User Created”—it will show “Local Files” or another appropriate source.
Fill Patterns: Fill Patterns loaded as part of loading other content. E.g. A fill pattern that is used within the material in the loaded family.
Unknown – The source could not be determined.
