The Kinship application on users' computer can auto-update when a new version is released. This option allows you to control to which version the application will update.
Setting the add-in channel
The Kinship application will auto-update when a new version is released. As an administrator you can control for each member and for the team overall what version of the application will be used.
The value set in Team Settings will be the default for all the team members. Administrators may change the value for individual users by editing their profile. Regular members and content managers can see, but not change the value assigned to them.
The available values that can be set are:
Stable Release - This will update when a new production version is released. These are the most stable and tested versions.
Beta - This will update when a new beta or production version is released. This will give access to newest features and fixes more quickly. Although tested, may still contain bugs that need to be addressed. Revit needs to be closed before installing the Beta, and then restarted post installation.
A specific previous release - Kinship supports up to two previous stable release versions. Once a new stable release version is available, this setting will be automatically updated to use the latest stable release.
Version numbering scheme
Kinship uses a numbering scheme with four numbers separated by dots. The meaning of the numbers are:
- First two numbers - are the production release version.
- Third number - is the beta release number. This will be zero for a production release.
So, for example
- 1.47.0.0 - is the 1.47 production release.
- 1.46.1.0 - is the first beta from the 1.46 production release.
