When a model is added to Kinship the system gathers data about the model as well as the families in the model and stores this on the website.
When a model that has been workshared is added to Kinship, the system will gather information from it and store this in the website. This information is then updated whenever there is a SwC with this central file by a Kinship user.
During the registration process Kinship performs the following steps:
- Gather statistics on the model. This includes information such as the Revit version, file size, central file location, project name.
- Extracts the family data. Kinship extracts the following kinds of families:
- System families - as RVT files
- Component families - as RFA files
- Note: although groups and drafting views and sheets can be added to the library they are not automatically uploaded with the rest of the families. To add these families to your library please see adding active views in the Adding Content section.
- Assigns the model to a project. The process of assigning the model to a project is based on a number of factors and is explained in How models are assigned to projects
- Adds the model to the website. The thumbnail for the model is Starting View as defined for the model in Revit.
